Creativity
Advanced Reading and Critical Thinking (AP Level)

This is the advanced course of the Reading And Critical Thinking class. Socratic seminars and dialectical journals about Plato, Camus, and Shakespeare. These seemingly painful activities and names can be fun when done with the right peers and an adult mediator who lets you learn the way you want! Students will hone their logical thinking and creative problem-solving skills by participating in structured discussions and creative writing assignments.

Creative Writers' Club

Many students who like to write do not think about turning their writing hobbies into meaningful activities. This class is designed for students who are talented in writing and want to build a writing portfolio that demonstrates their self-identity and insight into life.

Self-Discovery
Project-Based Learning Workshop

This class is best suited for students who have the self-initiative to start a project that is meaningful to them and benefits their community. They will start from a reflective process of what they want to do and why and start with guided research to understand the trend of the chosen field. Experts in the arts and humanities and STEM will guide the students to helpful resources and provide feedback on the project ideas. Students will also have access to a class forum that aims to connect students with similar passions and compatible skill sets. Start acting on your passion now!

One-on-One Mentorship Program

This mentorship program pairs each student with a mentor who will help him/her realize his/her academic and personal potential. To find the best match with a mentor, each student will take the Big Five personality traits test, the MBTI test, and a subject-based skills test. Then the student will have a meeting at which he/she gets to talk about themselves and their interests.

The mentor and the student will brainstorm ideas to explore subjects of interest and experience the field through activities. The mentor will follow up regularly to encourage the student on the progress and act as an accountability partner. Students who graduate from this program are grateful that they got to meet an older sibling figure whom they keep in touch with even after college graduation.

Community
Test Prep Workshop

Test prep is often about rise and grind. We take a different approach to test prep by having student-led text annotation/Q&A sessions, playing vocabulary and grammar games, and using a performance-tracking system that rewards every progress. Set your goal and join a community of companions on a journey to mastering a set of knowledge.

Critical Thinking and Logical Reasoning

The focus of this class is to develop each student’s fundamental thinking skills necessary to succeed in middle and high school English classes. Unlike math classes, English classes do not focus on learning numerous, new concepts each year. English language arts is about mastering a limited number of key concepts and practicing the application of those skills. First, students need to gain an in-depth understanding of the key ideas and elements in fiction and nonfiction. Then they practice text analysis with a focus on reasoning skills, the foundation of logical thinking.
